Learning how to build a website is a bit like learning how to tap dance. It’s a skill that has to be learnt. This story illustrates how having a guide to show you how can shortcut the learning curve and avoid overwhelm and frustration.
I’ve joined a tap class!!
It’s been more than 10 years ago since I last did tap for the show Stepping Out and I remember the first get together for it like it was just a few months ago.
Because I cried when I got home after that first meet up.
I had been looking forward to the first get together and I really wanted to be a part of the cast.
Tap looks so cool!
I was fine with the warmup.
But then the steps got more complicated, and I couldn’t keep up.
I felt so stupid and inadequate
My tapping feet did NOT look cool at all!
My hopes of being in the show were dashed.
Enter The Guide
My good friend Tina called me the next morning.
She had noticed me slinking off to the side of the room.
“I can’t do it!’ I wailed “I’m hopeless at tap, I just couldn’t keep up and I can’t even remember what we did to practice, I’ll never be even half good enough in time for the audition.”
Tina was brilliant. She popped round and showed me some steps I could practice, in time for the audition.
Learning how to build a website
That’s how it can be when you try building your website.
Just like tap dancing, a good website looks amazing, but creating it isn’t always as simple.
It can leave you overwhelmed and confused because there’s so much to take in and frustrated, because it takes much longer than you think.
But when you have a guide who’s done it before, showing you how, it’s much easier.
A good website building guide
A good guide breaks down everything into simple steps, teaching you what you need to know at that point in your journey.
When you’re ready for more complicated steps, they’ll show you more advanced techniques.
That’s exactly what happens when you work with me.
My Super Easy Website programme breaks down web building into 4 modules and each of the modules has a series of short videos showing you just 1 thing to help you create a great website for your business.
Each video builds on the skills of the previous videos, so that by the end of the course you have a professional looking website.
Back to the tap audition.
Thanks to Tina showing me what to do, I practised and by audition time I was good enough to get the part I wanted (Rose).
During the rehearsals we had a great director and tap dance teacher and 4 months later we had a great show.
The most rewarding thing
Was of course being able to hold my own in the tap numbers and make it look effortless and cool.
But the icing on the cake was the NODA (National Operatic and Dramatic Association) rep’s crit:
“Vee’s biog says learning to tap was a challenge, well no worries your brain engaged your feet to do what was required and what’s more Rose’s smile lit up the room, I also loved the Tee shirt”
