Refreshing your website

website refresh

We’re trying to persuade my mum to move house.

In the last 10 or so years, while dad was alive, keeping up with house repairs and updates was not a priority for him.

Which is a bit odd because he used to run a successful building contract business alongside his inventing.

For many years the plumbing and building businesses funded his invention research and development.

Maybe it was the dementia that skewered his judgement, or failing eyesight so that he simply didn’t see how badly dilapidated it had become.

It’s now a huge renovation project and we want mum sell up and move to a house where the work has already been done.

She can just take what she values with her, arrange it all nicely in the new house and live very comfortably.

It’s a bit like migrating to a new website when your old one is no longer fit for purpose.

There may be bits you like and want to keep.

There’ll most certainly be junk that is outdated and just there – a forgotten service you don’t offer anymore or blog post that’s no longer relevant.

Sometimes, it’s just a case of refreshing the look and feel of the site with a new theme or a ready made platform where everything is plug and play.

A bit like a serviced apartment, where you just arrange your belongings in the rooms available and let the landlords manage security and repairs.

Or it could be that the words need updating and made clearer who you serve because now, a few years down the line, you may have niched or changed direction and the old site doesn’t reflect this.

In extreme cases the old site may just need ditching and starting afresh, taking a few elements that are still of value – like my mum taking what she wants to her new house.

It might seem like a huge job to fix, but it needn’t be and you don’t have to do it alone.

I can help you sift through what’s relevant and what’s not, advise you on the different platforms available now and what would suit you.

I’ll give you a plan for your next website so that it attracts and nurtures the right kind of dream clients you want to work with.

And if you want, I’ll build it for you too (or show you how through my online programmes).

If that sounds interesting to you then let’s talk. Set up a call with me via my online diary.
